Snowboard Instructor Course Qualifications
CASI
Gain the skills to become a Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors
(CASI) certified instructor.
The aim of CASI is to train and certify snowboard instructors and to ensure that a national standard of safe and efficient snowboard instruction is maintained to serve the Canadian snowboarding public and the ski/snowboarding industry.
- The CSIA offers four levels of instructor certification.
- YES offer levels 1 and 2 certification.
CASI Level 1
Level 1 is an introductory course designed to introduce the candidates to snowboard teaching as well as CASI and its function within the snowboard industry. Candidates learn how to introduce snowboarding to beginning riders, work on riding improvement, analysis and how to adapt tools to improve or explore skill development
Prerequisites
- Must be 15 years of age on the first day of the course
- You should have solid intermediate riding skills, be able to link turns easily and smoothly on both your toe and heel sides, and be in control of your board at all times.
CASI Level 2
The level 2 course aims to develop a skills-based teaching approach for intermediate and advanced snowboarding, as well as an understanding of CASI technique and methodology, and the role of snowboard teaching within the industry. It combines practical snowboard teaching methods, technical understanding and development, as well as development of guest interaction and technical analysis skills.
Prerequisites
- CASI Level 1 certification must be completed more then 3 weeks prior to the first day if the course.
- Be able to ride advanced terrain.
CASI Park
The Park Instructor course is an introductory course, designed to give successful candidates the skills necessary to introduce students to the terrain park and freestyle snowboarding safely. Progression-based teaching methods, understanding of basic freestyle techniques, as well as lesson planning and effective communication skills will be addressed.

CASI Carve
The Carving Instructor course is an introductory course, designed to give successful candidates the skills necessary to introduce students to carved turns safely. Progression-based teaching methods, understanding of techniques, as well as lesson planning and effective communication skills will be addressed.
